Project 2 - Auditory Storytelling

Week 6 (27.09.2021)

For our second project, we were tasked to pick one popular fairy-tale story and create an audiobook. We were required to record the voice with the suitable voice acting and bring it all together with sound effects to highlight and enhance the storytelling experience. Mr. Razif told us we could ask for a friend's help in the voice acting. 

Project 2 requirements:

- Fairy-tale Story

- Narration, Dialogue

- Music (more than one music is used), SFX

To begin with this project, I drafted out my scenes and the script for each scene. I decided to go for the animation "Beauty and the Beast" as this was one of my favourite Disney princess animation when I was younger.

After completing each scene's script, I asked for friend to help me with the voice acting. He has a proper microphone which would be really useful for this project. I sent him the script and he had sent me the audio. Below is the voice recording.

After receiving the voice recording from my friend, I had edited it and made sure I have done proper noise reduction before moving on to editing the sound effects as well as the background music.

After I was done editing the sound, I imported the multitrack session into Premiere Pro. I began editing the visuals on it.

Once I finished all the editing, I imported the final video.

Project 2 - Audio Storytelling

Reflection: I personally really truly enjoyed this project! I had so much fun drafting the script as well as doing the voice recording with my friend. As for the audios, I did not have much of a trouble looking for the proper sound effects. This time around, after completing project 1 and the exercises, editing the sounds feels much smoother and easier as I am more familiar with the tools. Looking back at the Beauty and the Beast animation during the editing process, made me feel nostalgic and reminded me of my good childhood days. Overall, I had such a fun and good experience completing this project!
