Project 1 - Infographic Poster
Week 4 (28/01/20)
For the title, I created a Japanese inspired font so it will look more unique. I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I added a thin outline to the text and used the color yellow.
I included the circles to make it much more organized. I felt like without the circles it would look too messy and it would not stand out. It would be much easier to look at and read.

Project 1 - Infographic Poster
Week 4 (28/01/20)
For project one, we were required to create a recipe infographic. It has to be in A3 and we have to show the steps and ingredients on how to achieve chosen dish/snack/beverage. We were allowed to choose any recipe. Project 1 is the static version of the recipe where as project 2 is the animated version. Ms Anis said it was our choice if we wanted to create different designs for each project.
To start off with this project, I list down the recipes I had in mind.
Fig 1.1 Possible recipes
I sketched and wrote down the recipes for ramen. I went for Miso Ramen because I felt like I wanted to create a Japanese dish infographic. So here are a few pictures of rough sketches and notes for project 1:

Once I have finalized the layout, I started digitizing it in Adobe Illustrator.

I created two versions for animation purposes. I want the layers in fig 1.6 to move into fig 1.7.
Fig 1.8 Miso Ramen in Japanese
I felt like my poster would be quite empty without any decorations or interesting so I decided to add the word 'Miso Ramen' in Japanese and to make the text stand out, I made sure the texts' colors do not blend in with the boxes.

I included the circles to make it much more organized. I felt like without the circles it would look too messy and it would not stand out. It would be much easier to look at and read.
Fig 1.11 Steps
For the steps, I wanted to keep it short and simple. I did not want to include too many words. I also added numbers to indicate the steps' order.

I actually did a grilled cheese version of this poster as well for comparison purposes.
Fig 1.13 Draft
For the animation part, which is project 2, I used After Effects to animate the infographic. Most importantly, I have separated each object in Illustrator in to different layers to make it much more organized and efficient. My idea was to make it simple but interesting.
I started off by animating the title. I wanted it to transition from zero opacity to full slowly but smoothly.
Fig 1.14 Title animation
For the ramen's layers (fig 1.15), I added the 'ripple' effect to the soup to make it look 'liquid-ish'. I want to show all the ingredients in a miso ramen.
Fig 1.15 Layers
For the ingredients's animation, my idea was to make the circles appear first before the objects do.
Fig 1.16 Ingredients
For the cooking station, I made the ingredients appear one by one. I also animated the temperature reading. The noodles will come out slowly from the machine as well. Not to forget, i animated the knife as well. My idea is to make it look it's cutting the green onions and seaweed.
Fig 1.17 Process
Most of the movements were repetitive as that is my idea. I want the animation to be a loop so the movements will repeat after a specific period of time.
Here is my video for project 2:
